In Memoriam: Pope Francis

The world has lost a good soul in Pope Francis. He led the Church courageously and with vision. His passing Easter Monday reminds us so powerfully of the message of resurrection and the hope we all have in Jesus. We at Gesù will pray for the resting of his soul as the Church looks to its next leader for courage and strength in a time of great need. May Pope Francis rest in peace. - Fr. Lukas M. Laniauskas, SJ, Pastor

Statement from Bishop Edward C. Malesic On the Passing of Pope Francis
“It is with a heavy heart that I acknowledge the passing of Pope Francis, who has shepherded the Catholic Church for the past 12 years. As the first pope from the Americas, Jorge Mario Bergoglio chose the name Francis in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, and like his namesake, he lived a humble, simple, and pious life, serving as an inspiration to the faithful around the world.…” Read full statement >

A Prayer of Thanksgiving for Pope Francis
Loving God,
We thank You for the gift of Pope Francis—
for his steady witness, bold compassion,
and deep love for Your people.
May we carry his spirit forward
in how we serve, how we speak,
and how we live.
Comfort those who mourn,
and unite us in hope.
Amen.
