GESU HUNGER PROJECT

Volunteers pick up bakery donations from several Heinen’s locations every week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), and deliver donations to the Thea Bowman Center in Mount Pleasant. New volunteers are always welcomed and needed. Schedules rotate and volunteers commit to the day(s) that work best for them. Contact Tim Bauman for more information.

OLP FOOD PANTRY COLLECTION

Volunteers sort and deliver the food that is donated by parishioners for those served by Our Lady of Peace food pantry. Contact coordinators Mary Beth Soeder and Jenny Lambert for more information.

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE

The Gesu Red Cross Team invites parishioners to share in corporal works of mercy by donating blood through the American Red Cross. Gesu has established a schedule of six Red Cross blood drives a year, so that parishioners may donate blood here at Gesu every time they are eligible to do so – every 56 days. Other Gesu ministries are invited to “sponsor” one of these drives by volunteering to make telephone calls, bake cookies and recruit their members, supporters, parents and friends to give blood. Contact Lori Wright for more information.

RONALD McDONALD HOUSE & RMH Vets

Quarterly, volunteers cook and serve breakfast or dinner to those staying at the Ronald McDonald House and Fisher House, the facility for Veterans.

SAGRADA FAMILIA FRIENDSHIP MEALS

Three times a year, on the second Saturday of the month at La Sagrada Familia Parish on the West Side of Cleveland, we prepare and serve food to approximately 150-200 individuals, from the surrounding community, who are in a variety of situations of need. We strive to provide a sense of friendship and community. In partnership with the Latina Project, we host monthly gatherings offering meals and fellowship for women and their children in situations of need. If interested in helping with either of these meals, contact Cathy Markiewicz or Ashley Ponce for more information.

ST. PATRICK'S HUNGER CENTER

One Tuesday evening every four to six weeks, volunteers cook and serve dinner at St. Pat’s Hunger Center. Contact Jody Salata or Gil Holzheimer for more information.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society serves as a temporary bridge for people in various situations of need, such as a loss of income, job, a family member, etc. Volunteers also help organize and pass out food and clothing at the Ozanam Center at St. Philomena Church. If in need of assistance, please contact the Parish Office at (216) 932-0617. If interested in volunteering, please contact Pat Hawkins or Chris Holz
