Parish Giving
Gesu Sunday Offering
The Gesu Sunday Offering (GSO) program secures donations to support the daily operations and continuation of the good work of our parish.
All parishioners are encouraged to pledge or make a gift to GSO in the fall, so the administration can prayerfully plan and create an annual budget. Gifts to GSO ensure our ability to provide programs and services that meet the worship, spiritual, and educational needs of our parishioners. Parishioners are welcome to register for weekly envelopes by contacting Jeanne Cunningham.
A LEGACY OF GIVING
The generosity of parishioners and friends has blessed Gesu Parish over the last 100 years with gifts that support our mission: Eucharistic Living – Lifelong Learning – Generous Serving. As we continue to live out our mission, we ask parishioners and friends to reflect on their own gifts and consider being good stewards with their resources. We ask that you consider sharing your time, talent and treasures with others in our community and beyond. These gifts provide us the resources to serve God and keep the vibrancy of Gesu Parish alive.
Please note all gifts made to Gesu are tax-deductible and will be receipted properly including an itemized tax statement in January. You are welcome to contact the Development Office at (216) 932-0617 if you have any questions regarding giving to Gesu Church & School.
Below are descriptions of the different ways you can give, along with the various funds at Gesu that you can consider supporting.
OTHER WAYS TO GIVE:
Century Capital and Endowment Campaign
The Gesu Century: One Faith, One Family, One Future, a capital and endowment campaign, entered its public phase in 2024. The goal of $12 million was set to ensure Gesu’s vibrancy into the next century with a focus on adding to the endowment, expanding our outdoor campus, and addressing vital projects related to maintenance and infrastructure.
Gesu Endowment Fund
The Gesu Endowment Fund is a separately-incorporated 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides amounts to finance capital and other expenditures necessary for the operation of Gesu Church and School. Through tax-deductible estate, memorial and annual gifts, families can ensure the future of the ministry area that holds a special place in their hearts, leaving a legacy of goodness for all those who follow in this faith journey at Gesu Church and School. Gesu has two endowments for scholarship assistance. The Fr. Robert J. McAuley, SJ scholarship fund offers financial assistance for a Gesu Catholic School education to children in grades kindergarten through six and the Fr. Francis T. Dietz, SJ Scholarship offers financial assistance for students enrolled in 7th and 8th grade at Gesu or attend an area Catholic High School.
Year-End Giving
At this time of year, many people consider making special charitable gifts as they can have a positive impact on their income tax filings. Gesu will accept donations made by December 31, 2025 and they will be tax deductible for the 2025 year. According to IRS rules, to ensure deductibility of your church contribution for your 2025 tax return, Gesu must be in possession of your gift by December 31, 2025. Mailed envelopes must be postmarked by December 31, 2025.
Gesu School Annual Giving
This is an unrestricted giving program that is designated to Gesu Catholic School. Each year, we ask parents, alumni, grandparents and friends to consider a gift to the school. The resources are used immediately to assist with various aspects of the school including financial assistance, technology upgrades, academic programming and so much more.
Gesu Church Endowment Fund
The Fund for Gesu was established to ensure that Gesu Church continues to be strong and vibrant for future generations. Having the funds to preserve and enhance our worship space and surrounding areas is imperative. This capital fund provides the resources to update our Church as needed.
Named Endowed Funds
Honor your family’s legacy by establishing a named endowed fund at Gesu. Your fund will live in perpetuity and benefit the church and school for years to come. To learn more about establishing a named fund, please contact the Development office at (216) 932-0617.
