Gesu Welcomes New Church Members

Five individuals will become full members of the Catholic Church through the Church of the Gesu's Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) on Saturday morning, June 20. Victoria BrownBarbara Pines, Frank Pines, and Sam Thomas will celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist; and Lauri Strimkovsky will celebrate the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. These persons have been meeting almost weekly in person or on Zoom since September of 2019 and were originally scheduled to celebrate the sacraments at the Easter Vigil. Their sponsors, Nancy Taylor, Jan and Jim Grover, Jim Meyers and Tina Valdez-Meyers, and Ed Peck have been accompanying Victoria, Barb, Frank, Sam, and Lauri through a large part of the year, and will support them on Saturday as well.

We are delighted to welcome these persons into full membership in our Church and parish community, and are so grateful for all those members of Gesu Parish and School who have offered their prayers and support throughout the process, especially during this time of waiting due to the pandemic. The parish staff is especially thankful for the substantial amounts of time and energy devoted to the RCIA by the team, consisting of Deacon Jim O'Donnell, Mark Phillips, and Karen and Vic Turk. If you or someone you know is interested in exploring the Catholic faith with a view towards becoming a member of the Church, please contact Marcia Leous, Director of Faith Formation for Adults and RCIA Coordinator, at mleous@churchofthegesu.org
