Gesu Angel Tree Project

Dear Gesu Community,

In 2020, facing the overwhelming difficulties experienced by everyone around the country and world due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gesu parishioners managed to give a measure of love and care to hundreds of individuals in our local communities through our first ever Virtual Christmas Angel Tree project. This project has been an annual giving event at Gesu for over 20 years. Last year 354 individuals from 99 families received beautifully wrapped gifts or gift cards. The recipients were connected to local organizations and parishes as well as identified Cleveland Heights and University Heights families, and some of our own parishioners experiencing hardship. The organizations and parishes included AIDS Task Force, Hattie Larlham Center, Sagrada Familia, St. Jerome and St. Philomena.

The online format to sign up was so successful that we are using it again this year.

We thank you in advance for your generosity and willingness to make a difference!

The Gesu Angel Tree Committee

There are four ways to help families and individuals with your generous support.
1. On-line Family and Individual Choice-Making and Gift Purchasing for drop-off.
Please follow these instructions:

  • Visit SignUpGenius >
  • Choose one or more organization families to purchase gifts for and then click on the button to sign up. Click "Submit and Sign Up" to complete the sign-up process.
  • Gifts can be dropped off in McAuley Hall on December 4th and 5th.
  • Important: Gifts should be wrapped and labeled with the recipient's name and age. All the same family’s gifts should be placed in a box or gift bag/s with a tag stating organization and family number. If you don’t do this we will not know where to send it.
  • If you have any questions, the contact information for each organization's Gesu liaison can be found at the SignUpGenius link above.

2. Drop off a donation check made payable to “Church of the Gesu” at the Parish Office. Indicate “Angel Tree Project” in the memo line and someone will shop for you.

3. Volunteer to be a shopper! You will be given a gift list and gift cards to make the purchases. Visit SignUpGenius >

4. Direct Donations to Local Organizations:
  • Several local organizations that we have supported over the years are asking for direct financial donations via their websites, or a purchase of supplies for one of their locations.
  • If you would prefer one of these options the information is listed below.
  • If you decide to purchase supplies they can be dropped off at McAuley Hall the weekend of December 4-5 with a tag attached stating what organization they are for.
    • $100 supports one hour of counseling
    • $50 toward client educational materials

ICU Cuyahoga County
ICU Cuyahoga County offers pregnancy tests and ultrasound imaging free of charge. The team aboard the mobile units, which are positioned on many streets and parking lots throughout the country, counsel pregnant women about their options and provide resources to help them choose life and bring their babies to healthy births and a strong start in life.

The particular unit assigned to Northeast Ohio is in need of a new vehicle and is in the process of raising money for a down payment. If this worthy cause is of interest to you, donations may be made in one of two ways:
