First Reconciliation

FIRST RECONCILIATION

Congratulations to our parish children who will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on December 3. Please pray for them and their families as they continue their journeys of faith.

Reconciliation involves the healing of relationships through God’s mercy and forgiveness. The word, reconciliation, means “walking together again.” God is always calling us to “walk together again,” to say we are sorry, to forgive, to reconcile. Our Church knows the importance of forgiveness, so it provides us with many ways to celebrate this. One such celebration is the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

We encourage individuals and families to continue to celebrate this sacrament together, and to foster habits such as prayer and a regular examination of conscience. The Church of the Gesu offers the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturdays from 3:00-4:00 pm. The seasons of Advent and Lent provide additional opportunities to celebrate this sacrament. Our annual Advent communal celebration of the sacrament is scheduled for Wednesday, December 18, at 7:00 p.m

Our parish celebrations of First Reconciliation call us all to renew our understanding of and commitment to this sacrament. Click on the following links to view three short videos on the Sacrament of Reconciliation:
