Offering of Letters in Support of Meaningful Immigration Reform

In response to the US Bishop's Special Message on Immigration, Church of the Gesu is joining other parishes in the Cleveland Diocese and has letters advocating for meaningful immigration reform to our elected officials available for you to sign in McAuley Hall after all Masses on the weekend of March 14/15. The U.S. Bishops have consistently emphasized three key truths: 1. People have a right to migrate. 2. Nations have a right to secure their borders. 3. ALL people, regardless of status, deserve to be treated with dignity. The letter(s) reflect these truths.

Please read the letters, view the video, and prayerfully consider signing the three letters - to Senator Moreno, Senator Husted, and Representative Shontel Brown. One signer per letter. The letters will be gathered in bulk, combined with the letters from other participating parishes, and delivered, in person, to the local office of each elected official. This is a collaborative effort of our parish and the Social Action Office of the Diocese of Cleveland.

If you are not able to sign the letters in person March 14/15, you may print them out, sign them, and mail or drop them off at the Parish Office.

Be assured, our elected representatives do track all mail and are keenly aware when they receive volumes of letters on a particular issue. Your advocacy does matter! These small acts of advocacy and solidarity reflect Jesus' call to love those most in need.
