YEAR-END GIVING

At this time of year, many people consider making special charitable gifts as they can have a positive impact on their income tax filings. Gesu will accept donations made by December 31, 2022 and they will be tax deductible for the 2022 year. According to IRS rules, to ensure deductibility of your church contribution for your 2022 tax return, Gesu must be in possession of your gift by December 31, 2022. Mailed envelopes must be postmarked by December 31, 2022.

GIFTS OF PHILANTHROPY

Gesu Parish has been blessed by the generosity of parishioners and friends over the last 90 years with gifts that support our mission: Eucharistic Living – Lifelong Learning – Generous Serving. As we continue to live out our mission, we ask parishioners and friends to reflect on their own gifts and consider being good stewards with their resources. We ask that you consider sharing your time, talent and treasures with others in our community and beyond. These gifts provide us the resources to serve God and keep the vibrancy of Gesu Parish alive.

Please note all gifts made to Gesu are tax deductible and will be receipted properly including an itemized tax statement in January. You are welcome to contact the Development Office at (216) 932-0617 if you have any questions regarding giving to Gesu Church & School.

Below are descriptions of the different ways you can give, along with the various funds at Gesu that you can consider supporting.

Planned Gifts
Many donors choose to remember Gesu Church and School in their will or living trust because it is simple, flexible and beneficial. There are several options when considering a planned or legacy gift. All donors who notify Gesu of their planned gift intentions are part of the Madonna della Strada Legacy Society (click here for more detailed information). This group celebrates their commitment to Gesu each spring with a special Mass and reception.
Below you will find brochures that provide detailed information for Planned Giving options, along with a Gift Intent Form. For more information, please contact the development office at (216) 932-0617.

 GESU FUNDS

Gesu Sunday Offering (weekly envelopes)
The Gesu Sunday Offering program secures donations to support the daily operations and continuation of the good work of our Parish. All parishioners are encouraged to pledge or make an outright gift to the GSO in the fall, so the administration can prayerfully plan and create a sound budget each year. Gifts to GSO ensure our ability to provide programs and services that meet the worship, spiritual and educational needs of our parishioners.

Fund for Gesu
The Fund for Gesu was established to ensure that Gesu Church continues to be strong and vibrant for future generations. Having the funds to preserve and enhance our worship space and surrounding areas is imperative. This capital fund provides the resources to update our Church as needed. Recently, Gesu used money from this fund to update the restrooms and replace the kneelers. Looking ahead, Gesu hopes to improve the front entrance of the church, renovate McAuley Hall and replace the chillers in the church.

Gesu Church Endowment Fund
The Gesu Endowment Fund is a separately-incorporated 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides amounts to finance capital and other expenditures necessary for the operation of Gesu Church and School. Through tax-deductible estate, memorial and annual gifts, families can ensure the future of the ministry area that holds a special place in their hearts, leaving a legacy of goodness for all those who follow in this faith journey at Gesu Church and School. Gesu has two endowments for scholarship assistance. The Fr.Robert J. McAuley, SJ scholarship fund offers financial assistance for a Gesu Catholic School education to children in grades kindergarten through six and the Fr. Francis T. Dietz SJ Scholarship offers financial assistance for students enrolled in 7th and 8th grade at Gesu or attend an area Catholic High School. Named Endowed Funds
Honor your family’s legacy by establishing a named endowed fund at Gesu. The minimum amount to establish a named fund is $10,000. Your fund will live in perpetuity and benefit the church and school for years to come. To learn more about establishing a named funds, please contact the Development office at (216) 932-0617.

Annual Giving
This is an unrestricted giving program that is designated to Gesu School. Each year, we ask parents, alumni, grandparents and friends to consider a gift to the school. The resources are used immediately to assist with various aspects of the school including financial assistance, technology upgrades, academic programming and so much more. The Annual Giving program is the cornerstone of philanthropy at Gesu and it's a great way to keep the Gesu legacy strong for the future.
