St. Ignatius used a variety of prayer methods when offering individuals spiritual guidance, based on his own relationship with God. Members of the Jesuit religious order and their lay counterparts continue to use these forms of prayer today when providing individual spiritual direction or facilitating retreats and in their personal prayer. We will explore two of these methods during one program offered at two different times.

Imaginative Gospel contemplation invites us to use all five senses to enter a particular Gospel scene. Lectio divina, or “holy reading,” encourages us to “listen” to how God might be “speaking” to us through a word, phrase or image in a particular scripture passage. Each prayer form helps us to connect God’s word to our daily lives.

Please join us to learn about and experience imaginative prayer and lectio divina, whether you’re familiar with these methods or have never heard of them. ALL ARE WELCOME!
